President's Message- April 2010

E-mail Print

Dear Colleagues,

Happy Spring!  It certainly is a busy season and one of many changes in the financial aid world.

It was good to see so many of you at the Federal Tax Workshop.  You now have the opportunity to use the timely information Jim Briggs shared with the group in your daily work as “tax detectives.”  Many thanks to all those involved in the planning and executing of a successful day.

The Annual Business Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 2 at Mountain Ridge.  Voting members or their designees will be asked to vote on a number of issues.  Be sure to mark your calendars as the committee has planned a special day.

With the new year comes CAPFAA elections.  You are invited to attend an Executive Council meeting and learn more about CAPFAA.  The next council meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Department of Higher Education in Hartford.  Meeting dates and times are listed on the Master Calendar and announcements are posted to the listserv.

Connecticut will be hosting the EASFAA Conference this year from May 16 to the 19 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.  Be sure to come out and meet our colleagues from our neighboring states and show them our Connecticut hospitality.  Our own Neville Brown will take office as the next EASFAA President.  You can register at www.easfaa.org.

My term as president is coming to an end.  I want to thank all of you for your support of CAPFAA.  It truly is a pleasure to serve such dedicated individuals.   An organization is only as good as its members.

Best Wishes,

Odette G. Franceskino
CAPFAA President
